I absolutely love East Jessamine High School! It is so inviting and I’ve always felt like I belong. There are so many sports and extracurricular activities that people can participate in like Student Council to Basketball, Baseball, and many more! The teachers are absolutely amazing, they are always caring on what’s going on in a students life along with teaching them the content fully. If I were to change anything it would probably be the parking! We have such good attendance that sometimes the parking can be somewhat limited!
I came to this school as a high school sophomore and it was such a change from my previous school. I came to this school welcomed from everyone with open arms and I have made the best friends over these past 3 years being at this school. The teachers really like to connect with their students and you can tell they really truly want to be there for their students in every aspect of their lives. Making it to sporting events, having extended office hours to help students with school work or any questions we may have. Through struggling with Corona and it being my senior year EJHS has really tried to make the best out of the situation. Asking students their opinions on certain issues, asking us how we can learn better during these situations, and honestly just giving us slack and understanding. Coming to this school I have made so many amazing memories and met so many amazing people that have made me feel so welcome and that I belong at this school. I am so thankful to be here.
I’ve been going to this school for the past 4 years and I’ve found the experience pleasant for the most part but I feel like there could have been way more student involvement because even though I’ve been in band for all that time but there were no intriguing clubs like jazz band offered here. There were attempts in the 2nd year but it fell through. Also the lunches slack and the teachers seem to punish people for doing nothing. I also wish there were more dual credit classes offered because I want more than just AP classes because I believe there should be more variety than just super advanced classes and not as smart classes. Finally, I would like to say how fed up I am with the band director change over the past years of this high school. I’ve been in marching band for 6 years and I’ve only kept the same director once over those 6 years meaning: I’ve had 5 new band directors in 6 years and that is the reason I believe we are not going places in state competition.
