I give this school two stars simply because of my currently negative experience. If you are looking for a school that is safe and has decent academics, this is the place for you. The issues with the staffing policies, rules, and administration are maddening to me. They put alot of time and money into avenues that aren't really necessary. They have very few extracurriculars... with a small effort being put into sports. I have talked with kids and teachers who have been here a long time and many of them are disappointed with where the school is going. I think it used to be really amazing and now its just struggling. You may wonder, "How does such a small school have so many new incoming students?" Well. Its because so many kids are leaving. Students have no power. None. If you have an issue, you have zero ability to confront without punishment. That being said, the school is safe and the teachers are competent.
East Hill Christian School has many great qualities as well as some negative ones that balance one another out. If you are looking for a positive school experience with nothing much exciting happening, this is the school for you. The administration, while very nice people, are reticent to make big changes within the school structure, for better or for worse. There are a few *excellent* teachers followed by many many many mediocre ones. There are NO art programs and no support for creating any. There are some sports teams though and the school helps with those.
Overall, I had an amazing experience at East Hill. From entering in eight grade, I was able to improve upon myself and learn what desires I had for the future. However, the lack of diversity deterred me at the beginning. Many students come from a richer background and do not have experience with others outside of their race which made it difficult to adapt. Although this was true for the students, the administration and staff were welcoming and willing to help. Although more minute forms of bullying were present at the school, there was a no-tolerance bullying policy in place, and therefore problems were squashed as soon as reported. I received an excellent education, and would recommend this school to any parents seeking a healthy, Christian environment.
