The opportunities for students are overwhelming!! All of the arts such as music, drama and art programs are valued just as much as the sports teams are. Most students really value their academics and it shows, for there are many resources for help such as tutoring and after school days brought by the leadership groups. The popularity within the school becomes non existent as you get older because people realize that it doesn’t matter and we should just all come together as a school. East is generally really good at inclusivity. Last year there was a school shooter threat and the person actually came into our school and it was handled pretty well I’d say. We learned a new type of drill for when things like that happened and it actually really helpful.
Going into high school I didn't know what to expect, but on my first day of freshman year I was greeted by a tunnel of upperclassmen welcoming us to the school. I thought it was weird then, but looking back it made the first day more exciting and helped me feel more comfortable about going here. Academically I always felt the teachers wanted to get the best from me and would help whenever I asked. The teachers I had throughout my four years were great and not just at teaching they were also really good people. I also played two sports at East. I played hockey and soccer. In my time at East these were the two most popular sports. Our teams were very successful and in my senior year we placed second at state for hockey. We always had great fans no matter what and I feel that speaks to the culture at East where everyone supports each other. It was a fun four years and I will always look back fondly on it.
East is a great school with abundant educational opportunities. The classroom environment is generally good, but the students are very clique-y.
