East's Music program is very good skill-wise but very underfunded, like most music and art programs. The athletic department seems to put most of its focus on its hockey team, though the hockey team is pretty successful. Overall, the school has great academics, teachers, and activities, with a very safe and welcoming environment. They do have a very high counselor to student ratio, though, with only 4 counselors and nearly 1700 students. The diversity is not too good, but the school is in Northern Minnesota after all.

There were good classes with specific teachers but there were some larger systematic problems. In general workload was used as a measurement of class difficulty rather than the depth of the curriculum itself. A major focus was placed on athletics, which is not irregular for any american high school, but East specifically allowed, and even seemed to encourage, students to miss class for athletic events, whether participating or spectating. In addition, the school's "large size" allowed for many students to slip through the cracks. Despite the claims to have counseling and mental health professionals they were unavailable to students and parents because of being overworked. The administration pushed struggling students out of the school, simply so they would no longer have to deal with them.
Wonderful counselors, teachers, and people in general! East made for a great high school experience with many memories!
