Changes I would like to see are equally funded schools, more student representation, and schools places that make students want to learn. My school struggles to get funded since the state gives more money to a better high school. Another issue I have with my school is no true student representation. Yes, we have student body and class presidents but nobody ever sees anything change within our school. When we speak about these issues the administration does not seem to take it seriously. Another issue I would like to see resolved in schools is lunch. At my school, we have juices and milk cartons that are expired, and we have flavorless meals that don't fill you up with one bite. Lunch is 30 minutes and most of that time is spent in the lunch line.
At first I was really intimidated by the idea of attending high school. I had pictured strict teachers, impossible assignments, etc. However when I arrived I quickly discovered that I couldn't have been more wrong. The school was small but had so many kind/talented people (both teachers and classmates). They provided me with help and assistance whenever I needed it. My peers worked with me whenever I was having trouble understanding a part of the curriculum and made sure I wasn't left behind. It was thanks to the school's support that I had such an invaluable experience.
I think East was a very good school and there was always a good vibe. Students were very involved and really showed their love for East. However, after covid, a lot of things changed. It's not bad but it doesn't feel the same. I still have a lot of love for the school but that is why it's not all five stars. We've had a lot of teachers leave since when I first started here and the students are less involved, they don't show the same school spirit as they used to. The teachers who do remain or are new are still sweet though. Our culture, it's phenomenal. I'm not saying our school doesn't do its best to keep students involved, it's just the students choosing not to participate. Our sports aren't the best, but our basketball team recently won conference champs and is now heading to state, this is something great that has encouraged the students to show more pride in our school. Our school may not be perfect, but the teachers, and the staff, make sure the students have what's best.
