East is pretty good. Most teachers really prepare students for college, future academics, etc. Most kids are very academically oriented, so there is less school spirit than average. People complain about the food but it's actually really good, with long lines at the beginning of each lunch and a variety to choose from everyday. The school has a very liberal atmosphere, and is pretty accepting also. THere are a variety of extracurriculars to choose from and many classes (ie. APs, PLTW, Biomed .etc) that many students can take/elect to start. Overall, it's a pretty nice school!

I'm a senior from East. To be fair I'm very privileged to go to East. However it's a toxic environment. The only thing the principal cares about is attendance and maintain a perfect record. Which is why we have high test scores. The teachers are okay. You have at least one to two teachers a year that actually know how to balance how to teach and relationships with their students. The rest either don't know how to teach and leave students stressed, don't understand how to relate to their students on a personal level leaving them crying, Or both. Our school spirit isn't that great. But we have a really good lacrosse team women's and men's as well as field hockey. The arts departments are under appreciated due to the lack of promotion. As a senior I just found out this year that we had jazz concerts! Overall East is pretty okay. But when it comes to the toxic competitive environment revolved around grades and a GPA, is it really all that great?
East is a good school that provides students with intensive learning for a seamless transition into college academics. Many teachers really care about their pupils and will take the extra time to make sure we fully understand the curriculum. Extracurriculars like Cross Country and Theater gave me a welcoming new group of friends, and values of professionalism and perseverance. However, the communication of crucial information to students especially by the counselors must be improved as this advice is important to guide us towards success. In addition, updating course materials and curriculum is vital to producing well rounded students. Finally, problems between students and teachers must be taken seriously as currently the administration tend to brush these problems under the rug. I would love to feel that the administration cared about us enough to fully look into a situation and solve the problem.
