East Central High School Reviews
Rating 3.88 out of 5 422 reviews
East Central has a variety of classes for people of different interests to learn and choose from, from animating, to welding, even forensic sciences! There are also many learning opportunities and trips students can take to learn more about careers to pursue in the future. Some classes lack teachers who seem passionate about their teachings but those who are, are the greatest teachers you could meet, especially the AP and Colloquium.
I have attended East Central for the last three years. I've experienced that the teachers and staff can be very kind, understanding and friendly, however, they can be overly lenient when it comes to academics and matters in the classroom. During my junior year, most of my assignments across all my classes were excepted just any time before the end of the semester, regardless of the date given. I feel this gets students accustomed to a harmful pattern or procrastination, myself included. Also, the general coursework for all my classes didn't feel very challenging either and the actual teaching from the instructors was minimal. A couple of my teachers also tended to overshare about their personal lives with no correlation to anything classroom related. I feel they should be more mindful of the roles they have as authority figures and adults who set examples for us, and take those responsibilities a bit more serious.
East Central High School is a challenging school to attend. It claims to value education, but as a student whom wants to thrive academically, I feel that I have been shorted opportunities because of my school. While our school has many programs, they are not strong due to the lack of teachers employed. In a CMA course I am currently enrolled in, we have one teacher running and teaching two classes during the same class period because one of the teachers had to resign due to personal issues. If we were provided with more resources and stable programs, we would be able to actually learn and achieve our personal goals. East central has it’s benefits, but it certainly lacks in many ways.
