The best decision I made was to come to this school. You actually earn a degree that will put you so ahead and all faculty members are welcoming and honest people.
ECA is a school of choice. It pushes your child to be their best. The teachers are amazing and help the students when asked. It definitely gets them ready for college.
The teachers are super caring give great opportunities of learning for students. The relationships between a student and a teacher is almost like a best friend whom you can always count on and talk to. I personally really enjoyed the freedom that I get and the great environment surrounding the school’s campus. Overall, ECA is a great choice for incoming freshmen and sophomores!
The communication and involvement between the teachers and students are truly remarkable, but the academic schedule for students of any grade is a lot to put on a student.
Very welcoming environment. Teachers and staff are genuinely concerned about your academic well-being and your overall well-being. The student body is small; therefore, it is a closer family-like environment. The school does not have sports, but it is still a great school to prepare you for college.
This school has impacted my life in so many ways. By the time I was a sophomore I had completed all of my high school classes and had started taking college freshman classes in my junior year of high school. Faculty and staff were eager to help with any problems that might have arisen on campus and were some of the best teachers I've ever had. There was about a 15-1 student to teacher ratio so we were able to cover more material through the year which really saved time and helped us to learn more as students. It's been great being able to graduate high school this year and have an associate's degree. We did not have sports but ECA focuses on academics rather than sports.
ECA is a small school that provides students with the chance to further their education and get ahead of others who would attend a more traditional high school. By your junior year, all of your classes are college classes at SLCC. It's a great experience to have but attending ECA makes you miss out on the regular high school experience. With ECA focusing primarily on schoolwork rather than sports, you have to attend other schools' athletic events or dances to feel normal. ECA is not as diverse compared to other schools but it still is an overall decent feeling there.
Wonderful. Great teachers who care, great to advance your child’s educational experience and prepare them for college
I love how all the students know each other and how each student has a relationship with the teachers. The teachers are always there for you if you need tutoring even if you are not taking their classes. This school is a great way to prepare students for college since they take all college classes when you are a junior.
I enjoyed my time at the Early College Academy! It equipped me with an associate's degree at the age of 18, allowing me to save money on all of my general studies. It was full of compassionate teachers and advisors who took care of me every step of the way. It allowed me to learn the time management and responsibility of a college student, even though I was only 14 at the time. The only thing I could say I didn't like was that I felt that I was left out of some high school experiences such as sports and pep rallies. Overall, it was a great opportunity.
A great environment for those who want to succeed. Although the class sizes are on the larger side (approx. 30 students/class), the teachers are super involved all with one goal in mind: to help their students learn. I have never been to a school so focused on helping kids. It is not just about statistics, but there is a reason Early College Academy is so successful -- because almost everyone wants to be there. However it is STEM-focused, there are opportunities through BETA, Yearbook, and GLEE Club that are for the artsy students. But mostly, ECA is a school for people who are passionate about learning.
I love the school just need to allow them to have a break from school life on the weekends and holidays. The weekends and holidays should be their time to spend with family and friends they have to study and do homework all week, it should not be on the weekends and holidays to that is way too much and it's burning them out. Just my thoughts on the matter. A concern mom.
The school has engaging students who actually care about their grades and wonderful teachers who interact and create a fun learning environment for the sake of the student's education.
I love going to ECA! There are so many great things you can get out of it rather than going to a regular high school. For starters, you can graduate with an associates degree in general studies straight out of high school. The teachers are great at their jobs and know what they are teaching. The people I encountered there came from different backgrounds, which is preparing me for what I will see in the real world. Since the school is so small, there is a closeness and togetherness that I feel with the faculty and students. I would never trade my ECA experience for a normal high school
It is tough. very tough. But it is worth is. freshman year is scary and intimidating. people say you do not get a high school experience. you can very easily go to football games and parties for other schools. that is the only downside. When you are in your junior year, it gets so much easier. you get to make your own schedule, the workload gets easier, it's just all-around amazing. I highly recommend applying for this school there are so many benefits that will make you ot regret it!
Overall, my experience at Early College Academy is probably better than my experience would have been at any other school in Lafayette. Going to a higher educated school has definitely prepared me for college in the sense of making my school schedule , not being treated as a child, and knowing how I best learn and study for my classes. The only downfall about ECA is the lack of sports that comes with the school, but it is not as bad if someone cared only about school.
Early College Academy has offered me the best possible highschool experience by far. The focus on academics is strong, and the work is intense, but I feel like I'm receiving a fantastic education. The teachers are lovely people and most of them are extremely helpful and understanding. I believe the clubs have changed since the previous reviews. There are many options for clubs persuing academics or hobbies, but maybe not quite as much as other schools. ECA still does not offer sports, though. My biggest fear going into this highschool was that I wasn't going to get the traditional highschool experience that pop culture presents, but that has barely impacted me. The removal of sports has resulted in the removal of the stereotypical cliques you usually see. I wouldn't even consider any one person to be "popular" compared to the other students. I've met some of the kindest people at Early College Academy and I wouldn't trade my experience there for anything.
