I enjoyed my time at the Early College Academy! It equipped me with an associate's degree at the age of 18, allowing me to save money on all of my general studies. It was full of compassionate teachers and advisors who took care of me every step of the way. It allowed me to learn the time management and responsibility of a college student, even though I was only 14 at the time. The only thing I could say I didn't like was that I felt that I was left out of some high school experiences such as sports and pep rallies. Overall, it was a great opportunity.
I love going to ECA! There are so many great things you can get out of it rather than going to a regular high school. For starters, you can graduate with an associates degree in general studies straight out of high school. The teachers are great at their jobs and know what they are teaching. The people I encountered there came from different backgrounds, which is preparing me for what I will see in the real world. Since the school is so small, there is a closeness and togetherness that I feel with the faculty and students. I would never trade my ECA experience for a normal high school
ECA is a small school that provides students with the chance to further their education and get ahead of others who would attend a more traditional high school. By your junior year, all of your classes are college classes at SLCC. It's a great experience to have but attending ECA makes you miss out on the regular high school experience. With ECA focusing primarily on schoolwork rather than sports, you have to attend other schools' athletic events or dances to feel normal. ECA is not as diverse compared to other schools but it still is an overall decent feeling there.
