Dunn School Reviews
-Academics: We had multiple teachers unavailable for weeks during the year. The school is remotely located and it struggles to find adequate teachers and substitutes are unqualified. The school has little to no choices for class types.
-Boarding: The kids are not allowed to leave campus much. The rules are strict and there is little for them to do there. It is a prison method because they have so little supervision and care available. The students become lonely, depressed and do what they can to enjoy their lives a little (sneak around at night). On the weekends, many kids sleep all day out of boredom. This all affects Performance and Motivation!!
-The school lacks an overall Spirit. A private school should inspire and be a positive place that gives them Enriching Experiences & perspectives yet instead kids simply feel imprisoned and un-inspired.
-The school takes No Accountability for providing such a low level of support for the kids.
Day students and families stick to themselves, it is cliquey. Vaping, drinking and drugs occur on weekends. Teachers and dorm parents are barely present after hours so do not think your child will have supervision or guidance. Activities and sports, facilities, course work options are extremely limited.
If a child makes a mistake, they will keep the tuition. During Covid there were zero refunds of room/board. Consistent, quality instruction was non-existent.
Probation/rules/consequences are hit or miss depending on parental involvement, money given or if on the board. There are better places that make real connections and deliver what makes the boarding experience impactful for a lifetime.
