Duniway Elementary School Reviews

We moved to this neighborhood specifically because of the great reputation at Duniway and we haven’t been disappointed! The Foundation helps support the gaps in Portland public school funding and the kids have access to some great resources! A lot of teacher longevity too, which is great.

I have to agree with the other reviewer's observations about bullying and classroom disruptions with regard to high-needs students and too little support for teachers, several of whom are truly dedicated and inspiring. Over several years, we have had some great experiences and some deeply disappointing ones. There is a lot of financial privilege which often overshadows opportunities for social and even educational growth. Special ed used to be inexcusably poor, but seems to have improved.
Too many kids in the classrooms. Teachers with students with behavioral problematic have no control and those classrooms revolve around the disruptive students. Bullying is not effectively addressed.
