I was a student at Dunbar high school and I gotta say that they provide so many opportunities that had helped me for college and become more prepared for the outside world. I was in the International Bachelorette Diploma Program (IB DP), Avid Program, Trio program from FGCU and even in a soccor team in Dunbar! I recommend anyone coming to Dunbar high school to take these opportunities that they provide. They have a wonderful STEM program, Biomedical program, clubs, sports, and amazing teachers that want to see you succeed.
I would like to begin stating Dunbar High School is a school for opportunities. Of course, if you open yourself to those doors. Dunbar High School is the only school in lee county that offers the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (CP) and Diploma Programme(DP). Dunbar offers programs such as Technology academy programs, PLTW Engineering and Biomedical Academy programs, and Avid. Not only does it offer a wide variety of programs but the diversity in Dunbar is phenomenal. Dunbar is known to be the center of international students. I remember at the beginning of my junior year I meet a kid from Russian, he did not know any English. After the first semester, he spoke better English than me! Dunbar would not be Dunbar if it was not for the amazing teachers. Our teachers have poured their hearts in Dunbar and for their efforts, we are put on the map.
Best school with best faculty. It has a bad reputation due to the neighborhood but the principal, Mr. Burnside does not allow nonsense! Achievement is the expectation and is often met because of how much the teachers and faculty care about the student's success.
