DSST Byers overall is a Science and Tech school that excels in helping students for college and post-college, but lacks in student involvement. I was part of the founder class of this school, so my experiences may differ slightly from another student. That being said, the school focuses a lot on community, academics, and support. It is not a large building, and so there aren't many students enrolled in it; however, this opens up the opportunity of being able to easily connect with other students and staff members of the school. The school can do a better job at listening to the student ideal of what a high school should look like, but other than that Dsst Byers is highly recommended for future success.

I am a founding member of this school and despite where it falls short in mental health supports and artistic expression all teachers and faculty are always open to hear students' ideas about what can be changed/improved. Not only this, but this school helped me feel like (as a low-income student) college was attainable. Now I have received a full ride to my top choice college and truly believe that I would not have been able to do this if I had gone to a school other than Byers.
Overpopulated, not enough classrooms, bad mental health support. Student government is a novelty more than anything, almost all the things that they should have a say in is overlooked and just shot down by Ms. Couture so that everyone has to follow her ideas. Overall, they know how to run a middle school, but definitely not a high school.
