My social life made my high school experience good overall. However, there is a misuse of resources within the administration. The principal did not seem knowledgeable and was frequently observed walking in circles. Guidance counselors were unhelpful, aside from one. There is lots of "tracking," within the Richland One School District, which can be helpful and detrimental. This tracking created a clear division between races and classes within academics. The arts program was better than most. The food was unappealing. A few teachers put forth an incredible amount of time and effort, while others abuse power and demonstrate clear favoritism. Most resources were not advertised. The tutoring center deserves more attention, along with the library. I never once checked out a book from the library. It is most often used as a place to eat or print assignments. The foreign language department is lacking.

I made better friends and the schooling was more intensive than my old high school. I enjoyed all the arts programs and the academics were more diverse and useful. The teachers are passionate about their jobs and care about how students do in exams. I came from a school of bigotry and I was surprised to move to Columbia and find like-minded people that I could relate to and be myself with. I became more involved in school activities and from that, I became more sociable. Some teacher were iffy when it came to passion and how they treated students, but most were amazing at what they do.
Dreher is an all around great school. The arts and academics are outstanding, and while our sports teams might struggle here and there, there is an incredible level of talent here. Our administrators are a little slack sometimes, but they truly do care. Most of them walk around with constant smiles and aren't afraid to talk to students. Our teachers grow even more outstanding each year, with increasing talent and understanding. Dreher is great.
