There are some very good teachers—emphasis on "some," because these teachers are almost always Honors or AP teachers. The rest is kind of okay at best. The dreaded six-block schedule is one of its kind. We're literally like the only school in the district that has a six-block schedule instead of the eight-block schedule. If you're planning on going here for the magnet program, especially band or orchestra, DON'T! It sucks here. It was good some years ago, but now there is no more commitment. Also, our funding sucks. The people are chill though, sometimes.
As a graduate and having friends in Miami from other schools I can say Krop really gets you prepared for college, amazing professors and staff members. Challenge yourself in their honors AP and dual enrollment options. Lots of clubs and sport to choose from! It also their Star Academy Performing Arts Magnet Program which I was apart of for all four years that was outstanding.
The AP teachers were great: tireless workers for their students' success, genuinely passionate, and will challenge you. So many clubs, so many opportunities to get involved! Anything from community service to math to French, there's bound to be at least three clubs for you to join, guaranteed.
But a lot of the non-honors/AP classes seem rather boring. Regular students struggle a lot and it seems like the teachers don't have the time to review concepts, letting students fall further behind, though I think it’s partly to blame on previous teachers instruction before high school and on the excessive standardized testing. Also though I've liked many of the AP classes I've taken and made many friends and acquaintances from there, the majority of students taking AP classes are white, despite the student body's demographics being about 60% black. Also while overall the administration is good, meeting with some of the student counselors takes way too long (looking at you, Ms. LaMonica).
