I had the greatest time at Downtown Magnets High School thanks to the Associated Student Body. I was a member for two years and for my senior year, I was the Pep n' Club Commissioner. It had such great community and it does an amazing job at helping build character and confidence. I'll forever be grateful to DMHS. Always proud to be a sun!

Hello,
I am currently a Junior at Downtown Magnets High School, and I can not stress enough the prestige of this school. The school staff demonstrate a great interest in helping students achieve both their academic and personal goals. In the academic sphere, Downtown Magnets High School offers over 22 Advanced Placement (AP) courses. But if AP isn't the path your interested in, you may want to consider in joining the IB Program, of which is also offered on campus. One of the qualities that makes DMHS a unique School is it's clubs and after school activities. Students may participate in the most diverse and fun clubs, including Debate, Academic Decathlon, Dance, Art, and the Gay Straight Alliance. I would highly recommend this School as a first option for incoming 2017 freshman, and transfer students, because Downtown Magnets High School is a rich full center for college readiness, laughter, and forming lifelong bonds.
It was a cool experience. A low income and diverse school! Food is meh, but what did you expect, it's LAUSD. Events and clubs are organized by the students most of the time, so definitely a school that promotes independence. Most of the students are college competitive so...be ready!
