Downtown Magnets High School is a very academically driven school. The teachers are inspirational and will teach you content in a different way than you're use to. To simply put it, they push you to think outside the box. However, sports is not big at our school and we are ranked typically in the lower divisions. Although the teachers are great people who you can learn a lot from, some of the administration members are rude and do not take students seriously. Overall, its a pretty average school that doesn't give you the typical high school experience.

I can assure there are no other schools in the city, state, or nation like Downtown Magnets High School. As a first-year college student at a top-10 university who spent his last four years as a Sun, I've never felt more prepared for anything in my brief 18 years of life. College readiness is no joke at DMHS; from the coursework to the legendary College Counselor, Lynda McGee, you will be blessed with the confidence to attend and excel at any university in the world. Sure, the school isn't the most visually appealing, or the most "sexy", but the memories and connections I made in high school couldn't have happened anywhere else.
My experience at Downtown Magnets High School has been good so far. The teachers offer help after school such as tutoring for those who are still struggling in the course. In addition, they are willing to offer extra resources for those in need. I would say that one thing I would change about my school is the math department. Through the few years, I have attended I was not able to learn many new things and I still find myself struggling through things I should know already. In my second year of attending this school, I had substitutes attending my geometry class, I struggled with the work they assigned because I had to use other resources in order to comprehend the problems and learn how to solve them. I still find myself struggling in math but I am using online resources to progress.
