I'm a current senior at DCHS, and I love it here! The teachers are awesome (for the most part) and actually care about your education, but they make sure you take responsibility, which is important to prepare for college. The rivalry with CVHS makes the fall interesting, and the rival game is definitely not something to miss.
I'm in the IB (International Baccalaureate) program, which is the best alternative for AP. It gets you college credit and recognized world-wide, and is a scarce program in Colorado, so that helps make DCHS special! I would highly recommend this school to anyone.

Douglas County High School offered a number of different educational options that allowed me to advance my college prep efforts and in obtaining college credits in language, mathematics, science and history. I was able to be involved in various extracurricular sporting activities including baseball, soccer and tennis. These opportunities were available in spite of the fact that I did not have sigificant past participation in these sports, except baseball. A number of the teachers were very helpful in offering after hours study groups, which were useful in preparing for AP tests.
In my experience with Douglas County High School, it has been an overall average educational experience. Altogether, however, the resources that they provided were exceptional and I would not have excelled without them. The people made all the difference for me. Safety I did not feel was the best that it could be, the athletics were decent and the athletic events were enjoyable to attend. The focus on working through course material was absurd, it left you feeling the pressure of completion rather than the understanding of the material.
