Diamond High school is home to a very tight knit community of students, teachers, and other professionals. The teachers and caring, supportive and do the best with what hey have. They do have dual credit opportunities and the option to attend the technical school during the last 2 years of your high school experience. From there on out however, the opportunities seem to vanish. Due to lack of funding students and parents must find their own opportunities and chase them with little to no assistance. With the administration playing politics for years, the students have and will continue to suffer.
When I first started in the Diamond district in the first grade, it was very well organized and really was a good school. Throughout my years here, however, I am sad to say that, due to poor financial decisions of the school board, it has gone greatly downhill. The faculty turnover is dismal (the 2019-2020 school year had over 17 new staff; most faculty stay for only a couple years), and the organization is shoddy. It is a small school, but there is no excuse for some of the poor decisions on the school board. There is no reason to have moldy food and cob-webbed school buses, while the school funds new equipment every year for the FFA and football programs. I would like to see a better distribution of funds in this school, especially for AP classes and GT (which are currently non-existent). That change is essential to make this district a fine-tuned center for education.
I am very mixed about Diamond. There are honestly a lot of good teachers there who don’t get enough credit, but there is also an enormous amount of problems such as computers being classroom based instead of each student having their own which I see no benefits. However, once again its not all bad. I mostly rate it average since for every good thing at diamond there is a bad thing to match it.
