D.H. Conley High School Reviews
Rating 3.63 out of 5 204 reviews
Hi! I am currently a rising senior at DH Conley and rate my overall experience a 3/5. This is an overall great, public school that has numerous AP classes available, involved and concerned teachers in their classrooms, and counselors that ensure their students are college ready. However, the school lacks a knowledgeable and adaptable administration that will modify their processes to function more efficiently and better for students as well as parents. DH Conley also lacks an encouraging and safe culture. Most students fall into this either/or thinking surrounding politics, religion, and society. Even some teachers express views that may offend minorities and discourage students from asking questions, feeling comfortable with their identity, and acting their true selves.
D H Conley is a good school academically, however this school could definitely do better with working on providing equal opportunity equal treatment to all of it’s students. The school recently faced a lawsuit for disproportionately punishing African American male students over any other population of students. I believe that this school is very well accomplished in getting majority of their students college ready and preparing them for the rigorous course work of college. I myself have very much benefitted from the honors courses and AP classes that Conley offers, and I feel that the classes I have taken will allow me to get ahead in college. But the inequality that I have seen and experienced at that school is something that I cannot ignore, and it's something that needs to be dealt with.
I enjoy the diversity of classes I’m able to take and the dual enrollment. The counselors aren’t very helpful but the safety level for Greenville is better than the others. There’s tons of resources and most teachers care about the class, especially art teachers. The way you sign up for classes is weird but if you advocate for yourself you’ll be fine. They finally got rid of uniforms so you don’t have to wear the same spirit wear. If you have a problem with a teacher you’re kind of stuck with them, getting accommodations for a 504 is a bit more difficult if you’re not completely failing, but it’s not too hard. Most people just pick random classes and don’t have a path that they know what qualifications they need because the counselors don’t care or respond.
