Dexter High School has an immersive educational environment with many options to succeed. Programs include Advanced Placement (AP) classes, International Baccalaureate (IB) classes and the diploma, Consortium classes, and much more. Additionally, there are many sports and activity areas. The academics are challenging, but you are provided with many resources to be successful as a student. You can create a learning path built for you. There is an big lack of diversity. It is around 96% white, possibly even higher. As Dexter grows, we have seen more diversity. In younger grades you can observe a higher mount of diversity. It is still small. This affects our environment, because of lack of experience and understanding in many areas. The terrible and disgusting views of some students needs to change. Blatant ignorance and disrespect for minorities, including jokes and social media posts. This is changing, and there are groups of students that actively fight against this mindset.

-There is very little diversity here which often leads to people being close minded, which can be difficult to deal with
-There are a decent amount of clubs but not as many as there are at larger schools. In my opinion, the student population generally lacks passion; people often act the same and do not rally excitement for clubs or events
-Academics are pretty good. There are many AP/IB courses available but not all. Additionally, there are limited mid level courses: they are often very rigorous or very easy. The only language classes offered are Spanish and French
-There are a lot of awesome teachers here, but there are also many who are bad at teaching, inconsiderate, assign busy work, and are slow at grading. However, I think this is typical for most high schools
-Technology here is impressive. Computer carts in almost every classroom
-The food is edible but not great or particularly healthy
-Sports, for the most part, are very successful
-Only one sink in each bathroom works
Dexter High School has an amazing academic program, offering a wide variety of courses including AP and IB courses. Dexter is also a part of the SWWC Consortium program, allowing students to travel to a different school for half the day to learn about their specific interests (Cosmetology, Health Sciences, Early Childhood Education). Dexter has a lot of clubs and activities to choose from, and the community is very welcoming. The facilities as of now are subpar; however they are scheduled to be upgraded.
