My experience at Devon Preparatory School was very good. I liked the small classroom environment which gave me an opportunity for personal growth. I also liked the teachers and how hard they worked to get the students to succeed.
My overall experience has been extremely positive. I have been at Devon since 6th grade and have grown intellectually and socially. It is both challenging and rewarding. I would highly recommend this school.
Great students and families, supportive and adaptive administration, and AWESOME teachers. Great place to call home.
I love it at Devon, because pretty much everyone is so supportive, and I learn so much that I wouldn’t get to know elsewhere. It’s a tight community where nobody really feels like an outcast, and it helps that the food is good.
This is a wonderful school. There are many opportunities that other schools would not have such as college opportunities, strong academic exposure, challenging courses, small close community that is caring, great teachers, routed in faith.
This school does a great job at accommodating to students and is a great learning atmosphere. When it comes to teachers, Devon Prep is very complicated. I have had the greatest, most proficient teachers ever, but I've also had teachers where I would question the obtention of their degree. Despite these awful teachers, some teachers make the entire school worth it and will change your life. I believe it is a great school and I am happy to go here. The social reputation isn't the best, but if your here for a fun time, rather than working, then this isn't the school for you.
Wouldn’t send my kid here. Teacher turnover is outrageous. Teachers being hired are not very good overall, if even qualified to teach, for what parents pay. Management is awful and have no idea how to run a school. Trying to make it more diverse with sports but now there are students here who can’t do the work. Not a place to send your kids. Not the same Devon I knew 5 years ago. Sad
Terrrible management/administration. Horrible at communication to students and parents. You would expect the highest standards for a school like this. Very sad with what this school is turning into. Policies and rules are put into place, then no follow - through happens and they wonder why we question things. Glad I’m getting out this year.
Very high teacher turnover rate. Teachers are hired and expected to teach courses they aren’t qualified to teach. Just take a look at the teacher bios.
Enjoyed every second of my time here. Met my lifelong friends here. Excellent stage crew program! DON'T TAKE HISTORY OF THE CHURCH!!!! Other than that course, it's all good. IT'S FINE!!!
Newly renovated school looks subpar for the amount that was budgeted for it. Overall the school has lots of smart kids willing to make jokes at the less smart kids. Around 5 new teachers a year. Administration is too ambitious which will bite the school back.
Great experience in a welcoming environment that focuses on preparing young men for the college experience. Excellent focus on college selection process.
Devon is an excellent academic school with a few administrative shortcomings. Events and deadlines are not always handled efficiently, but the quality education the school offers more than makes up for this.
There are not many clubs people actually do. The biggest are probably CAP, Model UN, ACT Team, Mock Trial, and Science Olympiad. Not a ton of students really attend these though.
Devon has its ups and downs. There are times everyone has where they hate it and times where they love it. Friendship is the main reason why people stick out the bad times. Every guy at Devon has a group of friends, who they can always rely on to get them through the bad. There are guys you can't stand there, just like any school, but there is always a group for everyone with friends who have your back. Devon offers a lot of new experiences such as week long field trips at battlefields, where you stay in hotels. But really all the great times are the times you make with your friends.
Some teachers are really great. They know their subjects well and care about the students they teach. However, some teachers give you the feeling they don't really care about the students. These teachers also have trouble controlling their own classrooms and do not really get anything done.
Our school follows all the proper regulations for safety.
