Devon Preparatory School Reviews
Rating 4.26 out of 5 82 reviews
While this school is academically challenging, there are many issues. As a former student, I know a lot about the school. While the school offers a diverse set of classes, many teachers are unqualified or simply bad. The school's extremely small size means there is basically no diversity, and the school culture is centered too much on getting good grades. The sports programs and extracurricular activities offered are not well organized and small. The fact that there were no basic things on the campus (e.g. a track, theater, etc.) was sometimes frustrating. Additionally, it is SHAMEFUL that the school continues to allow a priest to say things like "walk on egg shells around Muslims" and "Protestants are heretics" in his History of the Catholic Church class.
Devon Prep has been a wonderful experience for my son. The administration keeps the boys at the center of all they do. The teachers and staff are polished, warm and gracious and they appropriately challenge the kids to work hard and make a difference.
This school does a great job at accommodating to students and is a great learning atmosphere. When it comes to teachers, Devon Prep is very complicated. I have had the greatest, most proficient teachers ever, but I've also had teachers where I would question the obtention of their degree. Despite these awful teachers, some teachers make the entire school worth it and will change your life. I believe it is a great school and I am happy to go here. The social reputation isn't the best, but if your here for a fun time, rather than working, then this isn't the school for you.
