Destrehan High School Reviews
Rating 4.21 out of 5 213 reviews
Destrehan High is a nice school that puts its students on high expectations to be a successful and contributing members of society. The school itself is situated in a very active community where both the parents and students are able to participate in school events and activities. On campus there are lots of facilities open for student use like the library, computer labs, and a commons area where students can hang out. On the education side, Destrehan provides a good variety of classes students can enroll in and different pathways you can take depending on the career you are going into. They empathize the importance of gradating to every student on campus and takes steps to make sure everyone receives their diploma on time.
I loved the people and memories! My advice is to be yourself going into high school. High school can be a lot to take in but if you go in with your head held strong and a positive attitude it will be a great experience. Get involved whether that is playing a sport, playing in the band, or singing in the choir. Be yourself and find people that will help you grow. Focus on your academics and have study groups. Also, get to know your teachers. I loved my high school experience and I am excited for my future at LSU.
My high school career had been anything but normal. My freshman year began in 2020, the year the world shut down. Each student was given a Chromebook and some students even had their internet paid for to ensure they could attend class. It was surreal returning to school and being able to see people you hadn’t seen in almost two years. After things settled down and we thought we were going to have a normal year, Ida hit. St. Charles Parish was devastated. Our school was destroyed. Even through that we were supported. Destrehan high school made sure every student had what they needed. Even going as far to distribute food, water, and tarps. So what is the best part of my school? The support they show their students. I will forever be grateful for how we were supported during the toughest times. There is very little I would change about Destrehan the small things like a cold lunch are completely overshadowed by the opportunities we are afforded or the support from teachers and faculty.
