DHHS is amazing! The faculty are outstanding at their jobs, and the students are among the best. Teachers are very dedicated to providing a great learning environment, while also providing a fun and easy environment. I have learned more this year than any other year at any other school!
I honestly loved my high school! I graduated last year in May of 2019. High School was a fun time for because I got to socialize and get prepared for college. One reason why I loved Desert Hills was because of the amazing counselors. Anytime that I had a question about school or scholarships or just life in general, they were always willing to help me out. I got to know the principal and the vice principal very well and let me tell you, they are amazing! The principal my year switched at the end of the year though but my vice principal is now the principal and he is amazing! He has such a kind heart and is always has your best interest at heart. He might seem intimidating but he is the sweetest guy ever!
Desert Hills is great school if you are straight, white, rich, and mormon, but to be fair that is true for any Southern Utah high school. I've never felt apart of the school culture because of those reasons. We have grade inflation, no money put into academic sports, and administration that has never helped me to get to college. We do have a good selection of classes and we can take dual enrollment at the college nearby but most of the time the teachers are not good at their job. The school tries to make it a welcoming place but falls short every time and if feels as though they are only doing it to get brownie points. The school sees a bullying problem and instead of being helpful they tell the students being bullied to set up a "kindness week" and makes them plan everything. Speech and Debate is considered a sport so it doesn't get any funding to go to Nationals but they do not recognize it as a sport when giving out awards. Overall it is a very average school that benefits the rich
