I went to the highschool and I got an amazing education, however if you are looking for a typical highschool experience this isn't the school, there aren't football games or much school spirit or pep rallies and that type of thing, however the education is amzing and if you want to go to college DSST will really prpare you and will help you thoughout the whole college application process.
It's an okay school. Being a student here is not similar to other schools which can be a good and a bad thing. On one hand, students here learn a lot, but on the other, students aren't able to experience any freedom unlike other students who attend different middle schools.
When attending DSST, it was very good. I received a lot of support from the teachers when struggling and was able to create really strong relationships with my teachers. Academically I was always pushed to do my best, even when having doubt in myself teachers were right behind me to show me I could. The only thing that I would change is that throughout the years it appears that middle schoolers entering the high school are getting more and more disrespectful. It turning much more from a very mature and disciplined school to schools that are known for trouble such as other schools like Aurora Central or Hinkley. Besides that the school has great diversity, and support. It's such a small school , everyone knows about everyone , giving a great sense of community.
The teachers are very good, but sometimes forget that students need a break too, it doesn't always have to be about college every waking moment. Additionally, they need to have a broader approach on each student instead of thinking that college is for everyone.
I liked the teachers. Most of them were very nice and helpful. I disliked the lack of choices in class. I disliked the administration and I disliked how politically charged they were,. They would often force their views on us.
They push the students to always try their best and the teachers are very supportive of what the students want to see change. There is a lot of communication between the teachers and parents.
The school is really efficient by the sizing. Its really focused on the individual as a single unit, rather than looking at students as a whole.
This school is great! This school has a set of core values that all students know and represent in the school. Every student learns and grows from these core values. The teachers are great! They care about you and help you when you are struggling. Overall, the community is very loving, dedicated, caring and hardworking. Each and every student and teacher is driven and work hard towards the greater purpose of helping achieve an education and achieving an education.
This school really challanges you academically.
There were a few options for extracurricular activites for school but i would have like to see more options for these activites.
There have been many times where I have been pushed to my limit and stressed out. But I feel that some of the teachers I met in my last two years of highschool have been worth the trials and tribulations.
On the highschool side DSST: Stapleton I have had many teachers who have been more than helpful making me understand the material in class and they can be approchable. But on the otherhand on the middle school side of DSST they treat the middle school student harsh and at times when i was going to school in the middle school side it seemed that I was learning more how to obey the rules and how to have more discipline than learning actual lessons in the class. I found that in the middle school i was having a hard time as a student because of how rude the teachers treated me when i was a student there.
