Denham Springs High School is not just a school, it is a family. The administration, teachers, and guidance counselors know the students by name and are willing to provide assistance at all times. My school fosters an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated and appreciated. DSHS offers advanced academic courses and strives to meet student's individual needs. We have moderate class sizes, enrichment activities, they set high standards and expectations for their students. At DSHS, faculty, students, and parents have a clear and shared focus. Our faculty takes the time to get to know their students as individuals and reserve time and resources to help us achieve success. The Yellow Jacket community is one that promotes school spirit, unity, and pride. We bleed purple and gold and it is always a great day to be a Yellow Jacket! My great grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, and sibling are all alumni of the greatest school on Earth.
Denham Springs high school has been the place I drive to most days for the past 4 years. My commute time is about 10 minutes. The school it self is very reliable. The teachers seem to always try to accommodate to the students. The teachers seem to love what they do! The school atmosphere always seems to be vibrant. Every morning our administration will come over the intercom and tell us “it’s a great day to be a yellowjacket!” These positive words every morning are a great start to the students day. Throughout my highschool experience I have taken honor and AP classes. These classes have given me the opportunity to better prepare for college. The extracurricular activities are always in full effect. In football season the whole town comes to watch. The student section is always full for many sports. Denham Springs High school is a very reliable school to go to.
The experience was really good. The teachers and staff were very friendly and informative with the material they provided. I felt as if they set me up for my college experience very well and made it to where I was fully equipped in the course material. The only thing I would like to see change in is the bullying policy. I had issues early on with bullying, and I feel as if this was an area where they can do better in terms of helping students. I don’t believe their “no tolerance” policy was 100% fulfilled by their staff and they can do better in that field. However, despite this, I still thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Especially the band program was extremely beneficial to me as I enjoyed making music with them. Even 3 years later, I still miss being able to make music at that program. I feel as if that made my highschool experience the best that it could’ve been. I always recommend this school to anyone transferring or on the fence about admitting their child into that highschool.
