The athletics department is the one department that everyone takes pride in. From our student managers, who adjust the team schedules to our Sportsmanship Awards, the whole community is involved in some way. Most students play team sports such as la cross and ultimate frisbee, but there are also opportunities to receive P.E. credit through yoga. Having this flexibility allows students to chose the activity that works best with their academic schedule. Overall, Delaware Valley Friends School has the means to accommodate different athletic interests.

Although every teacher at Delaware Valley Friends holds a masters degree, they each have a wide range of teaching styles and personalities. There are some who take a hands on approach to guiding students through lessons and others who challenge students to work in groups to solve problems without much instruction. This approach works well in the humanity disciplines, but is frustrating to students when it comes to the math and science departments.
The academics do not include AP/honors classes. The schedule only changes four times a year, in conjunction with the elective changes. The teachers are pretty good, but there is a lot of hand holding. No one is really challenged, which is good if you need extra support, but annoying if you want to learn more. Needless to say, the teachers do not give a lot of homework, and when they do give homework, they always outline what students are suppose to do, even when it is identical to past assignments.
