Overall, Del Mar is a great high school. Students are highly encouraged to join different clubs and sports, every one is very accepting of one another. This school is very diverse as there are many different cultures. Most of the teachers are always willing to help. Our classrooms are clean. Lately they have been updating things. For example, every student at my school has received a new Chromebook. Its a very small school so every one knows each other, which can be good and bad at times. Some things that I would like to see change is class and subject choices. At my School, they offer IB courses. Since it is new to my school, teachers are still learning about the IB curriculum and there is not a huge amount of classes. For example, there is only one IB science class offered and is only offered one period of the day which my schedule did not allow me to take. Hopefully in the future there will be more options. Other than that, it has been a good high school experience for me.

What I liked about Del Mar was the way that anyone could be themselves and wouldn't have a fear of being judged. My experience at Del Mar was very good. I got to make many friends and participate in whatever club that I wanted to be in, and everyone would be very inclusive. The sports at this school were very competitive but, everyone on the team treat each other like family and we all work together to accomplish our goals, and if we lose a game we don't fight about it, instead we talk about what we could do to improve and we care more about having fun than winning every game. Like my field hockey coach once said, "It's better to have fun and lose our games than have the worst time of our lives and win."
I'm a senior at Del Mar High School in San Jose, CA. I honestly love my school. There's a sense of community here and aside from academics (Del Mar is an IB school), there's something here for everyone. There's lots of clubs, sports, and performing arts activities for students to get involved in. The teachers I've had are nice and seem to really care about the students and their mental health. One thing I would improve at my school is the food. It would be nice if there was more variety and healthier options. Overall, I've had a great experience at DMHS.
