My school rocks! At DSA, we are driven in the arts and academics. We learn time-management because we have to balance practices, performances, and studying. Challenging, but worth it!
The only negative, no sports!

Dekalb school of the Arts is truly a hidden gem, It may look rundown and broken from the outside, but the people are what make this school a treasure. The fickle funding and crumbling exterior, is starkly contrasted by the students and teachers who work with a commitment to the school. DSA provides an amazing support system that helps all students so that nobody gets left behind. The teachers are dedicated to their work and care about making sure everyone understands, and the administration is some of the nicest and most understanding around. The school's curriculum allows high schoolers to explore different areas of interest they may have never thought about, and teaches them self discipline and how to balance their activities. The students are some of the brightest around, but don't hesitate to help when they see others struggling.
Even though DeKalb School of the Arts provides a close community for personal and artistic growth, it is lacking in many areas. The academics are mediocre, with few AP class offerings and constant faculty changes.Although some teachers will provide excellent guidance and instruction, others will not, and it is up to the student to create their own path. A lot of help is provided in the form of production opportunities and master classes for those who want to pursue an art in college, academic and athletic resumes are unfortunately difficult to build. For a school known for the performing arts, the facilities are below average. All in all, the school is not everything that it claims to be.
