Deer Valley High School Reviews
Rating 3.35 out of 5 526 reviews
Deer Valley High School doesn't have a great reputation, but overall is a great school. I've learned many life lessons and continue make new friends. I love and grew close to my teachers, and I'm not afraid to ask for help. Deer Valley offers many clubs, sports, scholarship clubs, college knowledge, and tutoring from the teacher you have or counselors that volunteer to help you. The campus is also very diverse. The college advisors have given me support since I was a freshman. As a first-generation college student, I wasn't told where to apply or what to do for college. I also was given continuous opportunities for scholarships, trips to colleges, and college knowledge in general. They helped through the college application process and financial aid. For that I'm extremely thankful. Over the years, more security has been added and students aren't allowed to leave campus during school hours unless they have off campus. Overall, Deer Valley is a great school.
Deer Valley was actually a really good school. Although there were a few teachers that weren’t quite the best leaders and a few students were to blame because of it. However, my overall experience was really great. I met amazing people and became good friends with some of my teachers. What I would like to change about it is the lunches and a few of the staff. The lunches were somewhat ok but overall could definitely be better and more healthy. Some of the staff seemed like they just hated their jobs and didn’t want to be there at all so they would just yell at you for something you didn’t even do.
I liked the individual classes, and academic opportunities. However, Deer Valley didn’t seem safe, with the never ending fights and threats for school shootings. It made it challenging to go to your classes and pay attention without getting in between a dramatic conflict. That being said, the teachers are very good at their job. I found that ignoring the school drama and conflicts, and focusing in your classes rewards you with understanding of the subjects one may not usually get. The school, even with all its conflicts and situations, had many really good people, students and teachers both. Even if it isn’t the best school, it taught me many lessons academically, socially and mentally.
