De La Salle High School Reviews

When I came to De La Salle, I came in with a different mindset than I'm leaving with. I had no motivation for school work until the second semester of my freshman year. I started getting straight A's which made me fall in love with being good in school. I was always a try-hard. My school made me want to try as hard as I could to get that A in all of my classes. My school also introduced me to community service work. I joined our Service Club, and participated in all my four years of high school. This made me fall in love with helping my community. After my sophomore year, I wanted to be more involved. I joined Student Council my junior year as Junior Class Representative. This made me feel as if I could go backstage of my school. I had the advantage of helping my class and school as a whole. Finally my senior year, I became Student Council Vice President. My years at De La Salle has changed me as a person to stop being hesitant to do stuff that you love.
My son loves De La Salle and I love that we finally found a good fit. I love the culture. One year the principal said, at De La Salle we aren't trying to make your students the BEST IN the world, we are trying to make them the BEST FOR the world. The kids there are great! I found the school to be much stronger academically in the lower grades. Small classes, strong experienced staff. Later, when class choice is more important, teacher turnover and limited classes has been more challenging. (Adv Chem was offered instead of Physics this year--Sorry!) For a senior interested in engineering, that is unacceptable. Football is definitely KING there--b/it rouses up all kinds of school spirit for the kids, is a way to get parents involved, and keeps alumni extremely active and supportive.
I have felt accepted at De La Salle since day 1 as an 8th grader. It is largely why I chose this school. Now as a senior, I still feel that way. My years at DLS have helped shape me into the man I am becoming. I am grateful and content. I would not change a thing!
