We moved to New Orleans in July between my kid’s 10th and 11th grade years; my husband retired from the Army. I contacted De La Salle because we wanted a co-ed and racially, ethnically, and socially diverse school. Mr. Bonura (no longer at DLS), Ms. Atwood, and Mr. Kelly were wonderful. DLS accepted my daughter’s out-of-state classes as well as previous state Standardized Test Scores and assigned classes that fit her academic progression. When my daughter struggled with the Semester Schedule (this mimics college--classes are offered in an 18-week semester instead of across the whole school year), faculty helped her adjust. DLS is not without the usual teenage-related issues; when my daughter was having trouble with other students, the staff and faculty responded quickly and appropriately without me becoming involved. If you are moving to NOLA from out-of-town or out-of-state, I encourage you to consider De La Salle!

As a graduate of 2018, I had the most transformative experience a student could ask for! I made lifelong friends, and De La Salle provided me with the opportunities and education to succeed not only in college, but in the real world. The faculty is also amazing and really pushes to make real connections with the students. I would definitely recommend for future students to challenge themselves with the honors and AP classes at De La Salle. The extracurricular clubs and sports really enhance the entire high school experience too! The tight-knit community at De La Salle also really made me feel comfortable as I came in as a freshman, and the upperclassmen truly served as great role models.
My overall experience at De La Salle was some of the best 4 years of my life. My teachers were the realest people I have ever met. They would share about their childhood , tell us about their family, and even listen to our stories. We were loved and valued by them. With such a variety of different students, at the end of the day we all came together. We would volunteer to visit elementary schools to help the little one's dye eggs for Easter ,and We would also read to them. Our school truly came together as one big family. Everyone would always come out to support teams such as - Basketball, Soccer, Football, and Softball. People would dress in Maroon and White, Make signs , and cheer for our teams on every game they had . I've made so many life long friends throughout my years at De La Salle High School and we will always be one big happy family all together. I was able to grow so much in my maturity, relationships with God and people , and truly realize who I was as a Person.
