The Dayton Early College Academy is a very demanding school. This can be both a good and bad thing. It is good because it prepares us for college and the real world by giving us the necessary resources to succeed. This can be a bad thing because it causes for more time management and self discipline. DECA is really student oriented meaning they genuinely care about the students and their success. This makes the workloads and expectations easier.
Deca has really made me enjoy going to school. It is such a family environment, I always feel welcome. The teachers always are ready to go out of their way to help, and the students are like one big family.
Deca prepares you for college, your teachers and advisors push you to do more because they are getting you ready for college. once you get there college is going to be a breeze because you have already had the experience in college besides the fun parts😂
My experience at Dayton Early College Academy has been my best experience at any school! This is saying a lot considering it has been the 9th school I have attended in my 11 years of schooling. It is evident that the teachers deeply care about their students and do their best to form genuine relationships. The curriculum, while rigorous, is greatly balanced with teacher student and class activities that are fun and stress reliving. The small number of kids creates an at home environment and it is inevitable to not build extremely close relationships.
DECA is a good school if you are academically driven and not sports driven because there is a lack of sports, as well as arts. The teachers will definitely push you to your limits and then some, but it is worth it for college. DECA will give you the tools necessary to be prepared for college and for beyond college. DECA is a very diverse school and the students there really get along with each other, it truly is a great environment.
Now that I am this close on becoming an adult I do feel like I am ready for college. Thanks to my DECA family, that has done a tremendous job on helping get to this point. Meaning if my grade is low in sociology, I need to be doing everything under the sun to make it up! And being tired is one thing but being stressed? Being stressed is a whole different story. I am ready for what every challenge is thrown at me because in the end I koe I will be a successful woman and I will make it out. I know it will take a lot to get there. DECA has taught me that too, but it took alot to graduate from there so I know I can do it.
My favorite part about my school is that it is like a family. The students that I start high school with are the same people that I will also end high school with. Everyone knows everyone, relationships with teachers are like family members, especially parents. Our teachers want the best for us and they let us know that by working hard for us, even during stressful situations that most people would just immediately give up on because of that.
As a senior of DECA getting ready to graduate May of 2020, I can honestly say DECA is a great school for academics and college readiness. The teachers care about your success and make themselves available when students have questions about the material. However, there are no sports at this school, so you would have to play for a different team in Dayton, such as Stivers. There are also no art or music programs, but sometimes there are Open Mic Nights. There is a Robotics Team and a Mock Trial Team, though. The safety is pretty great, we've never had to worry about an intruder.
I love how DECA gives their students a variety of opportunities and introduces them to college curriculum.
Dayton Early College Academy is a school that prepares you for college. It is challenging but it really allows you to expect what the college life would be.
I have a pretty good experience with DECA, sometimes the work can be very pressuring, but we get early access to free college classes, andit has a very great learning environment.
The first few weeks at DECA has been great and better than last year. In the beginning I thought we would have a lot of homework like we did last year, but we do not. I got to make new friends and rekindle old friendships since the beginning of the school year. This year I got all new teachers at school, and the middle school students are no longer located at the high school anymore. Even with all the changes at DECA my first few weeks have been great and I hope they keep going great like it has been.I’ve learned a couple of new things and refreshed my memory on some old things at DECA. Also I learned how to speak a little bit of spanish. We learned to said boy, girl, s/he walk, and s/he run in spanish.
What I like about Deca is the fact the teachers actually take the time to work with preparing you for the future, and not only thinking about making a paycheck. The teachers at Deca really wants to see the students to succeed in life, and they do everything that they possibly can to assure it.
DECA have as given many students of all races an opportunity to be successful. DECA makes sure that each student has a full 4 years full of knowledge, struggle, and opportunities and pushes students to points they did not even know they had. DECA makes sure that each student becomes aware of what they are capable of. At DECA, giving up is not an option. The staff will push you and push you past your limits because everyone at DECA wants to see you succeed. At DECA, we are all a family. We are all one. We all have each otherś back and we all make sure that nobody is left behind. DECA is the dream school. DECA has demonstrated me what a college life would be similar like through taking real college classes, internships, job shadows, and relationships with mentors. .
The school is very focused on getting its students into college. Additionally, it has a family like atmosphere and everyone wants each other to succeed.
I like that they give you as much access to college as possible. Being ready for that time in your life is important. Although that is a good trait, I would love to see the staff take the opinions and feelings of all students into consideration. The health and feelings of each student matters, and none of the work being done will matter if the health of each student is bad. Motivation not only comes from the willingness to work, but happiness and determination. One that lacks determination and happiness is known to work less.
I am a senior at DECA and although the curriculum is difficult, I can honestly say that DECA is doing a great job preparing me for college. One of DECA's requirements is to take at least 3 Sinclair classes. With my current Sinclair class, I walked in knowing MLA format and other formats that the other students didn't.
