Davidson Academy was a good school. I have graduated recently and the school was definitely a great prep for college. However, in recent years things have really begun to go down the drain. Several teachers have been fired in recent years based on the personal bias from the board or administration. Speaking of administration it has changed hands multiple times just in the past 4 years. Most of the teachers at DA are great. There are many staples that really make the teaching staff. However, due to the firing of many other staples, the school has continuously hired teachers that are in no way capable. The relationships with students are beyond inappropriate and there is obvious bias, to clarify, I'm talking about the middle/high school. The elementary school is fantastic! The issues with the high school especially are too prevalent. As great as most of the teachers are, there are some that are absolutely terrible and the college resources are also bad unless you're going to UTK.
We’ve been so happy with Davidson Academy, after relocating to Nashville in July. It certainly helped support our 6th grader during a challenging time. The staff have been supportive In numerous ways During this transition. Tutoring helped our daughter stay on top of her Math- love Mrs Allen! She’s had opportunities she didn’t have before- a tremendous theater program, wonderful Art teacher, and so much more! She loves the lunch program- Sage does a wonderful job.
All in all, it’s been a great choice for our family.

As a guy wanting to major in theatre, Davidson Academy is bit more academically oriented than I prefer. With that being said, DA's been my home for the past 13 years, and I wouldn't really want it any other way. When you walk in the doors, you know everybody to some degree, even if you just know their faces. The kind of jerk that I see at DA is usually much tamer than any jerk at a public school, given that fights don't break out between students almost at all. I do wish that DA prioritized its theatre department more, but I've currently accepted the fact that DA prioritizes football above all else, which won't change any time soon. I'm good friends with the teachers I have had over the years, specifically ones more in my wheelhouse of theatre and music. DA's awesome, and no matter what little negative things I say, that ain't changing.
