David W.Carter was a very historical school. The traditions and pride of this school were wonderful. During the four years at Carter HS, I had two different principals. One was very strick and the other one was too cool. I had an advantage in learning things because of the middle school I came from. Most of the work was easy for me so I advanced to AP classes. The teachers were very understanding and cautious due to the behaviors are the other students. I was part of many different organizations at Carter including sports, fine arts, and academic base. I joined tennis in my second year and continued until my last year. I played golf in my last two years. I was even featured on the news for being the first female to advance to regionals for golf. I was part of the dance company all four years and joined the Calicos which is a drill team in my junior year. Also, I was inducted into the national honor society my junior and was elected my senior year as the historian, as well as JROTC.

The athleticism and educational rewards reek through the lit glass cases on the main hall from outstanding Alumni. Towards the end of white flight at the end of the 1980s early 1990s, Carter High was soon a predominantly black school and carried the education of the middle-class black teenagers. Carter High was known for their sports, football was most raved, meaning that they were on the radar for being great and successful. However in 1988, at the height of Carter's reputation of being excellent, the challenges that were conquered for the football state title was soon stripped away from the team due to the first act of criminal activity by five of the football players. Beautiful Cinderella turned to rags in front of the prince and that reputation stained the eyes and ears of the city. Having pride from where I came is more important than a reputation because what was can be redeemed. Look at Greece.
Attending David W. Charter allowed me to devote myself in several activities , clubs ,and sports ,while upholding varies leadership positions.Although, further on in the school year I went through a crisis. While facing that obstacle the teaches reveled how they actually cared; by not only working with me during school hours, but investing their time with me outside of school hours ,so I could stay on track with my studies. It promted the consideration those adults propelled that goes beyond being a teacher. Therefore because of the staff memebers ,administrators ,and my involvement around school allowed me to have a great experience at David W. Carter High School.
