Butler high school has a wonderful staff! The teachers create a positive environment for students of all backgrounds. I attended Butler for all four years of high school and each year I was taught by knowledgeable teachers who were honest and caring. Their music departments included orchestra, band, and chorus were directed by the best teachers in the area. All the athletic programs were coached by several staffmembers and additional specialists. The programs were successful and well funded so each student had the opportunity to be well equipped for the sport. The school is run by an experienced principal who understands the demands of high schoolers while enforcing discipline and preparation for college. I’m proud to call David W. Butler my high school.

Butler high school is not just a school. It’s a community full of caring teachers, administrators, and staff that want to see you succeed and do well in life no matter the path you take. Over the course of the years, I’ve built solid relationships with my teachers of every grade level who I still keep in contact with. Teachers and staff here are so helpful and willing to do everything they can to help you towards a goal. They’re creative and some are hard on you, but that’s only because they care. Mr. Legrand has been a wonderful principal and he wants each and every student here to feel safe and be involved in school activities. Butler high school has been a wonderful experience for me. Go bulldogs!
Last year, my school went through something that no other school should go through. A school shooting. Whenever these are cast on the news, no one ever thinks that it would happen to them. But on October 29th, 2018, it happened to Butler High School. A few of my friends and I joined an organization to bring awareness and help to these situations. We started protesting in our town and demanding action toward gun control and school safety. We went to many Town Council meetings with the hope of talking to the mayor just so we have assurance that we would be safe at our school. I hope that by the time I am in college, more people start protesting for what they believe in and eventually help stop school shootings altogether. This school community has gone through more than any other school in my county has had to go through, this horrific event made our school more close together and we all got the opportunity to create a safer living space for all the other incoming generation of classes.
