I'm a sophomore here at Hickman. One thing I like about Hickman is how warm and friendly the staff here are. A lot of the teachers I've had have been phenomenal. However, the students here can be very disruptive and rude, to both teachers and peers. Though there are some very nice students. Another thing I like about Hickman is how unique our mascot, the Kewpie, is, people here like to embrace its uniqueness. Another aspect that I like about Hickman is how historical the school is, and how people here like to embrace the historical side of HHS, keeping artifacts sprinkled throughout the school. The fine arts community here is big, yet everyone is really nice (especially in the theatre community). A complaint I have is the sanitary factor of the bathrooms. They can be very dirty and people vandalize on the stalls (but that's a already well known fact). The events are okay, but the events (specifically dances) can get very wild. Overall, my experience here has been above average.
Hickman High School, is overall is a wonderful high school. First about the school, it is a very diverse school many kids that come to Hickman have different backgrounds, different ethnicities and cultures. Do you get to meet lots of people with a different perspective than you. I will be honest, our sport teams are growing we are very good in Basketball, Track and Esports. What we are mainly know for is are Fine Arts every year the Hickman Fine Art are nationally recognized for our outstanding arts. Hickman puts on 4 Shows plus a Variety show and 15 concerts a year. We have a Marching Band, Jazz Band, 4 Concerts Bands and recently new to us a Percussion Orchestra. We have 3 Orchestra, and 3 Choirs and a Musical Production class. Hickman Art Class are very well know, sending many students art to completion around the nation and in Missouri. The last thing Hickman is proudly know for is being home to the Kewpie. Yes, our Mascot is a Naked Baby and we are proud to be Kewpie!!!
If you take accelerated classes the teachers are good at their jobs and the curriculum is challenging. If you take any regular classes you will be treated with no respect and the administration is incredibly biased against students of color. The security is ridiculous and the students are not allowed any freedoms. There are a ton of extracurriculars like clubs and sports to participate in including the esports team and unique clubs like Zombie Defense League. Overall Hickman offers a good education with over 20 AP classes, multiple world languages, and practical career classes, but the administration can be racist and is very unfair to certain students.
