I attended Darnell Cookman from 6-12th grade, and it was a wonderful experience. You can tell that the teachers truly care about their students, and administration is tough when need be but overall everyone gets along very well and violence or fights were very rare. The smaller size makes it easy to know all of your class mates and create closer connections with peers and teachers. Being that this school is a medical magnet, it pushes the students to excel in many areas and gives students opportunities to go out and get real world experiences, such as the annual field trip to Medtronic. I would highly recommend this school to anyone and would not change anything if I had the chance!

I love Darnell-cookman. I’ve been there since 6th grade and i’m now in 12th grade. Darnell Cookman is a magnet school which means its a college ready school . The school itself is amazing. Darnell Cookman is a good school because it’s class sizes are smaller than other schools . This means you get more one on one time with your teachers and unlike other schools all teachers will know and remember your name. At Darnell-cookman everyone either takes advanced classes, accelerated, or Ap classes. This is good because when applying for college you would have a big advantage and you would be ahead of other schools academically. Also Darnell makes sure no one fails and everyone graduates on time. All teachers are like family to you because they actually care about you and help you academically. Teachers also act like guidance counselors they are always there to talk if a student needs them.
The school gives the students a very educational based excitement, that no other school can have access too. This school has hands on experience with the students. As well as the teacher being in the students life. Setting a fine example and teaching on what their responsibilities are and helping them make and achieve their goals. The staff all over can help one child grow into a divine woman or man. My experience won’t be like any other school. The school may be different in sports and being a middle/ high school may look a little crowded but it really isn’t. Our high school doesn’t have sports but we’ve had an one hundred percent graduation rate for 4-5 years, my class of 2020 will make it 6 years. We enjoy talking with the teachers about today problems and what can the solutions be. While I was a junior I was in the AP environmental science discussing the problems of climate change and helping the environment we evolved into scientist testing solutions to the problem.
