The safety here is very prominent for alarming reasons. In the past the school has had countless bomb threats. Because of this, students were required to have mesh backpacks for a couple of years, and random backpack checks are still in use. There are security guards everywhere, which is both reassuring and scary in the same way as when you always think you might be doing something wrong but aren't sure (like driving and a cop car is in the lane next to you). I have not seen a prominent bullying problem; however, I have heard rumors of there being severe racism issues in my grade's middle school years. (I was not present)

After being at this school for only 3 months, there are many awesome and disappointing aspects I've noticed. The best is the art program, which is oddly extremely well-funded. The more liberal half of the student body is very tolerant and accepted me, and I very quickly fit in and made many new friends. I would not, however, choose this high school; I would, given the opportunity, return to Upper Merion and finish out the year in the cleaner, higher tech, familiar school.
I went to Upper Merion my entire life up until my senior year. This year I transferred to Daniel Boone, and one thing I miss the most is my teachers. Daniel Boone has average teachers who teach directly to the AP test or keystones, with a lack of technology, and some do not even come to school very often. If I had gone here all my life, I feel like I would have rated it higher; but because I have Upper Merion to compare it to, whose teachers go above and beyond, I have rated it as "it's okay."
