As one of the oldest schools in the district, the facilities are a in need of some updating but nothing too drastic. The academics are fine, but I feel that there is not enough college preparedness being taught/offered. While plenty of students take their own initiatives with being ready for college, I’m sure far more students would be more open to exploring the possibilities of college if the school did more to present those options and information. Nonetheless, I find the school comforting. It has a beautiful view of the ocean, and our school spirit is pretty amazing. Even though our football team is horrible! Imagine that.

I have absolutely loved attending Dana Hills High School. The teachers, students, and staff were all excellent this year and it was a very easy transition from my previous school. Most everyone was very open and friendly, it was a productive and engaging academic learning environment, and the location was phenomenal. The thing that can be improved upon is the infrastructure of the school. It is getting very old and progressively more costly to run so updating certain aspects of the campus could really make Dana a flawless school to attend.
Graduated in 2012, my overall experience at Dana was a good one. I only had two horrible teachers, but many memorable and great ones including Valderamma, Petijohn, Hudson, and Tran (among others) that I still remember years later. Because Dana is so big I found that there wasn't bullying happening because people were "weird" or "different". Theres so many people that usually a girl wearing a tail or a homemade tutu would rouse a half aware "huh" and you'd continue walking. Many times the guy who wore a kilt for fun or the girl who really did make her own clothes were some of the cool people. They were easily themselves and people enjoyed their company.
