I was a variance student for the performing arts program. I really loved how well funded the performing arts program was and how they were able to fit it into normal curriculum.
It was quite decent from an academic standpoint, however the student culture can be less than spectacular. A majority of the teachers truly care about their students success.
The staff is excellent, and the building and facilities are kept in top quality. However, some of the departments, particularly in science, are ineffective, and the community can sometimes be hostile.
I would say the best part about Damonte is the teachers. All of my teachers were always very encouraging and provided help any way they could. Some of them went above and beyond to form friendships with students to make school feel like a place where everyone is welcome. Although, I felt like our school lacked school spirit and unity. Assemblies were never very good because the only people who got into it were leadership students. No one else cared. The only time our school had school spirit was at football games which are extremely fun. Our athletic programs are great.
Damonte Ranch is an amazing high school. The Student Council hosts so many fun activities and school spirit weeks. The teachers are also awesome and you can tell that they love teaching. I love being a Mustang!
One of the better schools in the washoe county school district. Academics are a high focus, and the school has a high graduation rate. The school has a performing arts center, dance studio, CTE Labs, and focuses highly on mathematics and computer science. The sports teams do well, especially the football team. However regardless of the fact that the school is a performing arts school, the arts are not as highly recognized and praised as sports are.
I really enjoyed attending Damonte Ranch High School. Their music program is phenomenal and really shaped me into the person I am today.
I liked that the school has lots of varieties of sports but they mainly fund and focus on football. I think that the school should pay more attention to other sports involving swimming, golf, ect.
The overall experience at my high school was very memorable and positive. I learned so much from not only my teachers but my peers as well. I especially enjoyed Friday night football games. It was such an amazing feeling to be cheering with all of my friends for a team we are incredibly proud of. I made so many new and wonderful friends that I wouldn’t trade for the world. Overall, my experience was one I will always hold close to my heart and will cherish forever.
Damonte Ranch High School is a very open and welcoming community. When I had concerns with issues, I talked to the admin and felt heard.
I’m very blessed to have gone to this high school. The staff cares very much about how their students perform in school, and the sports teams and dances were all amazing. However, i do wish the school cared more about the opinions of students themselves. For example, our senior quotes were taken away from us this year so i created a petition to bring them back. Over 700 students signed, and i even ended up on the news. As a result I had a meeting with the principle and the one person who is in charge of the yearbook, yet they still would not listen to the 700 students and parents that disagreed with this decision.
I like that DRHS is a fun school. But there are also a lot of drug use on the premises. That makes a very uncomfortable bathroom trip.
The teachers are at the core of this school's success. The commitment, relationships, and rapports that are developed between the students and teachers are definitely attributed to the school's success. The administration and students always feel disconnected, however. Additionally, Student leadership seems to always be on a constant decline. Overall, a nice, typical school, but definitely room to improve in many regards.
Damonte Ranch High School is an amazing school to attend for your high school experience. Both my older sister and I attended this school for all four years and we each had very positive experiences. Damonte has been around since 2003 and has only grown and gotten better as the years have gone on. They have, what they call the PAC program, or the performing arts center program, where students can audition for and get advanced training/education for dance, drama, band, orchestra, and choir. This program has been running since 2014 and has majorly grown as the years have gone by. I’ve participated in the dance section of this program and I love their drive to not only work with students to be creative in their dance form but also connect as a loyal, strong community together. Overall, the faculty at the school are very intelligent and hard working people/teachers who make sure to help students both in classes and in life. I couldn’t be any happier with attending Damonte.
The school is very clean and the newest buildings are very nice. I like the staff and the majority of the teachers. I have had many great opportunities and experiences at Damonte Ranch.
The teachers are very nice and helpful and there are lots of clubs and extracurricular activities to be a part of.
Damonte Ranch high school has helped me progress academically along with allowed me to become a more well rounded individual.
