My overall experience so far in the Yonkers school district has been fairly good. The teachers have been good and the learning experience has been good too! The diversity in the schools are good, you see kids from various part of the world. The part of the school districts that I would change would be the sports facilities and the amount of money distributed to varsity sports. As a current athlete, I see all these districts with better facilities for there kids. There is a lot of talent in yonkers and with better facilities and better players there is more money for college athletic scholarships

I have attended Yonkers Public Schools for 14 years and I have had a great educational experience with tons of support from staff members. Overall, Yonkers Public Schools are a wonderful place to send your children. In terms of changes, the YPS school system needs an update on our resources. Students would benefit from newer technology in science research classes and magnet classes. Students would also benefit from newer materials such as textbooks, calculators, and other supplies needed in each class. Another change that needs to be made is the cleanliness and maintenance of school facilities. For example, soap and toilet paper are needed often and some facilities are out of order due to clogging and poor maintenance. In terms of food, schools need and a wider variety of healthier food options for breakfast and lunch.
Personally, I enjoyed my experience as a student of a Yonkers City District school. Most of the teachers are amazing at their job, there are a myriad of clubs, activities, and sports, you can find a student from any and every cultural background, the staff members attempt to keep the school as safe as possible, and so on. However, due to a lack of funding, our resources and facilities are lacking or poor. Part of the blame could be placed on the lack of parent involvement. A majority of the parents do not attend any sort of event, such as PTA meetings.
