I loved being at YC. I played multiple sports and had an amazing experience with all my teams. I never felt left out at YC. Plus being in a small community was awesome because you knew everyone. But at times it sucked because everyone knew everything. Even though everyone knew everything I will truly miss the little school of YC. I made a lot of good memories that will forever be with me.
Some parents obviously have it out for our school district. I've encountered some challenges over the years, but have found the school administration and teachers will talk about it and try to work things out. Obviously a public school is not like a private business... they have to work with everyone. Our child has had an excellent education with responsive, caring, engaged teachers, and I firmly believe that the staff and board (up to this point... we'll see what happens with the new board members as of July) have been striving to help all of the students succeed and have a good experience. Could things be better? Certainly. But that's the case for everything and everyone in this life. My biggest worry is that current teachers might be scared off by close-minded parents who are trying to tell professionals how to do their jobs.
Loved the small town and small population. Down to earth and very safe school. I enjoyed attending there my senior year. Transferred from a larger competitive school down to Yamhill-Carlton and wished I had attended Yamhill from day 1! Enjoyed every minute of it.
