I like that the president of Wood County Schools communicates with the students. I also like that the school district was giving out COVID-19 vaccines for free.
I've went to Wood County Schools my entire life and my experiences for all are different but almost always the principles were the same; overdemanding and rude.
Overall the schools are decent. However, many schools are on the verge of closing down due to lack of finances. The kids don't deserve to be crammed into schools due to schools shutting down.
In PSHS, in which is where I go, some teachers are nice, professional and helpful, and some aren't. The counselors are not helpful nor passionate to students if they dont know. Though there is good community between teachers with teachers, student with students (most of the time) and teachers and students.
Some times I am happy with my child's school. But being a teacher myself, I am not always impressed with with the ability my children's teachers have to communicate and to keep grades current. I also hear about a lot of time wasted in class.
Wood county school provides good safety and education to every student. They always put their students first and make sure they maintain a good education.
My experience of Williamstown High School was that we were a close community and had a good educational and athletics programs.
I have attended Wood County Schools for 12 years now and feel that they are overall highly satisfying. In my experience with Wood County Schools, I appreciate that the faculty seems to actually enjoy and thrive in their positions. I feel it is important to learn in a positive environment and believe that the staff goes above and beyond to make sure that we feel a sense of belonging and we have equal opportunity. One thing that I would like to see change throughout our school system though is better facilities. I would especially like to see that at my own high school because although they do not hinder our education and experience, sometimes they do make it challenging or more stressful than need be.
As a student who has attended Wood County Schools since kindergarten, I have seen the inner workings of the system, and while many areas are student friendly, rigorous, and full of opportunities, some aspects leave much to be desired. The quality of classes is full of college-minded staff and students alike, yet several—especially in the younger grades—are more focused on fun-filled activities than really teaching kids. Extracurriculars are abundant and inclusive in the county and are highly praised throughout. Resources provided by both teachers and administrators are extensive and readily available to all students. Despite all this, issues with administration have arisen in high schools especially. Administrators have begun lacking adequate communication skills with staff and students and typically do not support their teachers. Overall, however, Wood County Schools ready its students for a successful life and teachers invest themselves thoroughly in their students’ futures.
Wood Co. Schools are fantastic for preparing students for all of life’s endeavors. These schools are full of the best teachers, administrators, coaches, and other employees. I am a proud alum of Wood Co. and am thankful for all of the opportunities I had while a student. I look forward to giving back. I would be honored to receive a scholarship in hopes to one day give back to education systems. Thank you for your consideration!
I liked the environment and the staff. They cared about my education and helped in anyway they could.
I like how passionate our board of education is for our students. They always looked our for me and my fellow classmates best interest.
I like how everyone is very evolved in extra curricular activities. I also like how the teachers are there if you need help or advice. I would like to more preparation for college however.
I loved wood county school they got me ready for college and life in general the staff are amazing if you take the time to listen and do your work.
I would highly recommend this school district to anyone living in or near it. when I went through this program, I had a wonderful experience with all staff and students. The students are wonderful and well mannered. I learned lots of other skills there and really appreciate all the help I got from my friend group and teachers. The music program, whether it be band on choir or piano, I learned so much about friendship and leadership through that program.
Wood County Schools always try to do what they believe is best for the kids that attend their schools. I have always been in the wood county school district, and have never had a problem. The rules some of the schools have are a bit ridiculous though, they should probably tone some of them down.
Wood County Schools strive to offer the best education possible. The faculties and staff of each school in the county show the compassion and desire to teach.
