Wilton is well known for having excellent schools with incredible music programs. Very safe schools with some of the best teachers in the state. However if your child(ren) qualify for gifted, there isn't a lot that is done to address gifted students' learning needs. Both my girls are in elementary school and tested gifted. We try to address their learning needs by putting them in a diversity of after school activities and travel abroad in the summer. It would be nice if the school district had advanced placement classes at the elementary level.
My experience at Wilton Public Schools has been great overall. The teachers all want to help the students and academics take precedence over sports and extracurriculars. Sports however is a big part of the town and if you are not involved in sports you will have fewer contacts in the community. Most of my fellow students are smart so it is hard to stand out above and beyond others sometimes as well. Everyone is usually fully accepting of everyone's views but behind closed doors it's another story.
Great school system, kids are always very prepared for college. It is not uncommon to see students getting into the top schools upon graduation, as it is a very college-driven student body. Only about 3% of kids every year decide not to go to college. It isn't very diverse though, if that is something that would bother you. I would say that our school is very inclusive so I wouldn't be worried about that. It is also very safe, so the point where I'd feel comfortable just leaving my laptop of phone in the hallway and coming back and hour later to find it still there. Everyone is super friendly!
