Wilson is a great school district with an excellent high school. The high school offers a wide range of AP and elective classes with involved teachers and a myriad of extracurricular opportunities. Opportunities such as a trip to Jamaica to study marine biology in a Wilson owned lab and getting the opportunity to do humanitarian work in one of Jamaica's infirmaries. Wilson has trips to Belize, Germany, France, Spain, and China. Wilson is also known for their excellent sports, having won several awards throughout the years. Wilson has its own massive indoor and outdoor stadium, and a full sized auditorium for its extensive music and theater programs. Wilson is an excellent high school that provides essential and invaluable resources to its students.
Wilson School District is excellent in terms of resources and opportunities. Truly, the amount of available classes and extracurriculars is astonishing and has helped me grow as a person in learning what I want to do and who I want to be. However, Wilson High School is split into two buildings which becomes a safety concern when looking at the growing numbers of school shootings on the rise. Just recently, there was a call about a reported shooting, which ended up being a hoax but still caused immense fear among students, teachers, and parents. There are plans to renovate and implement more safety measures, but improvements should be put in place sooner rather than later.
I enjoyed Wilson School District due to the various challenging opportunities provided by teachers and academic programs. I was pushed by my teachers and encouraged to do well in difficult classes which today has transpired into a stellar GPA and groups like Wilson's National Honor Society. Additionally, their are numerous extracurricular activities that push students, in my case competitive swimming, to pursue hobbies and talents outside of education. Moreover, the goal of the teachers at Wilson is to have their students succeed in life, which I can say from prior experiences at other schools is not always the case. Also even though I may not agree with all the administration decisions, their choices are for the benefit of all the students that attend Wilson. Overall, both in education and in activities I can say that without the support Wilson has gave me I would not be as far as I am today.
