I have been going to Williamstown Independent Schools since I was in Kindergarten. I have watched this school advance in many areas such as academics, activities, sports, and more. There is a variety of classes for individuals to choose from, along with career pathways. We have recently started an Athletic Boosters Program. Every sport is involved, and it benefits all student athletes. We raise money to support any sport. We have sports such as basketball, baseball, volleyball, softball, archery, golf, cross country, soccer, and cheerleading. Williamstown needs improvement within clubs. Each year, students choose two clubs they would like to participate in. Williamstown has clubs such as key club, FFA, FCCLA, etc. Clubs need to be taken more seriously, especially clubs that participate within the community. Students think clubs are meant to give them free time. Clubs exist to get students involved within the school and community.
I think Williamstown was a typical rural independent school. It was very tight-knit. I knew everyone in my graduating class and knew my teachers well. Williamstown places great importance on the Arts, especially music. When I was there, most of the staff was effective and qualified, but hearing from my younger siblings who still attend the school, the quality of teachers has gone downhill due to great teachers retiring and an abysmal turnover rate among new non-tenured teachers. The facilities leave much to be desired, but are useable. Despite its small size, Williamstown offers a good variety of options in your education path between AP classes, dual-credit classes (at NKU Grant County Campus), and Gateway/vocational training.
I have gone to school here my whole life, and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. The small school environment is awesome, and I have developed strong connections with many students, teachers, and faculty members here over my years in attendance. I have always felt welcome and I have always been encouraged to try new things. Even though it is still a small school, there are still so many opportunities to join new clubs and sports teams. I have been involved in many of the programs at this school, and all of them have had excellent organization and great attendance. I have always been able to go to my teachers whenever I need them for help with my schoolwork, but I have also been able to go to them for any help that I need outside of the classroom.
