I have had teachers who are passionate about wanting their students to succeed and grow. Having a teacher who encourages and who continues to push me makes me want to chase after what I am passionate about. Unfortunately, there is a lot of disrespect towards the faculty from students. When the adults try to guide these kids, the kids will continue to disrespect and do not take advantage of the help that is being offered. The food at my high school does not impress me. It does not look appetizing, and I usually resort to snacks that are sold in the cafe line. I do feel safe at my school, and I have never been worried about a school shooter. Even though we have had times where we had to increase security because of fights our school handles those individuals involved and take the proper precautions to prevent another situation from happening.
I like that the environment is not only surrounded by education, but also sports. Many teachers grew up in this area and participated in the same activities as students are today. There is a big sense of unity in that aspect. However, the sportsmanship between the schools has/has been toxic for years. There is a sense of superiority from the older schools, which is understandable. However, it is sometimes overwhelming when people doubt your skills and talent because of the school you go to. The sport experience between schools is something that I wish would change for the better.
My experience overall at Williamsburg- James City County Public schools was such a great experience! I've been apart of James City County Public schools since Kindergarten up until high school. I don't think I would've had a more enjoyable experience in any other county!
