Willard R-II School District Reviews
Willard has some amazing teachers and one of the greatest and most supportive communities around the area. Many teachers are known for leaving a lasting impression on many of their students. However, there were a lot of administration changes at once and the transition of those changes did not go as smoothly as it possibly could have. While there are people that my not be friends with one another, everyone seems to be generally nice. Willard schools have worked very hard to create an absolutely amazing environment. The hard work has paid off and continues to greatly benefit students of the district.
Overall I have had a pretty good experience with Willard. Whenever I needed help with something in a class most of the teachers would be willing to help and actually make sure I understood what I was learning. There are a few things, however that I wish would be different. As of now phones are not aloud to be out whatsoever which doesn't seem like that big of a deal but personally it seems unnecessary. Kids there already have their phones out and making them go to ISS for having out seem a little excessive. I understand that schools have rules but I feel like the school needs to change along with its students. Each year a new set of kids come in, each one being more involved with technology than the one before. I have enjoyed Willard for the most part but I feel like the school as a whole needs to focus on more important things than someone being on their phone.
Overall, I have had a good experience as a student at Willard for 13 years. The district has grown a lot but it is still dedicated to its core values of preparing leaders and future community members. I have played sports and participated in activities all 4 years of high school and they have an excellent athletics and activity booster club that focuses on giving back directly to the students. Willard is a small town, but the school district pulls from the surrounding area, which sometimes gets in the way of their small town attitude and big school district feel. While it is one of the leading districts in the Ozark’s, there is not much diversity.
