We moved to Massachusetts just as my boys were joining their sophomore and junior year of high school, so the transition could’ve been difficult, but it wasn’t. My elder son was able to make friends and fit in quickly, and the coaches and XC and track teams were happy to have a new member. The teachers are really good, and my son pushes himself to be better because of the environment. My younger son initially started at private school, but it wasn’t a good fit so he chose to transfer to Weston High School. His experience has also been very positive, and so I’m thankful to the schools and teachers for being so welcoming.

I have had 2 children attend K-12 and currently have one in middle school. The system has an excellent reputation and overall prepares students well for college. The environment can be competitive and stressful, and if your student is not a standout, they can slip through the cracks. In HS especially, there is not a lot of interaction between parents and teachers on a one on one basis. It is very limited and students are expected to advocate for themselves. The student population is diverse as the community is multi-cultural, as well as participation in a strong Metco program, which has been a positive. There is strong support for the arts and enrichment by the community.
I think that Weston High School is a great school in general. The small number in each class allows for students to build connections with classmates as well as teachers. The academic rigor/competition is sometimes hard to deal with. I would like to see administration/guidance be there to support students more as well as seeing more school spirit.
