My son started came to Westmoreland County in his Freshman year. Along the way he has been guided and influenced by several teacher, and his still in contact with them even though he isn't in there class any longer. It wasn't until he got into the Northern Neck Technical Center, that I really saw him shine. He has completely turned his grades around within the last year, and cannot talk enough about the influence his teacher at the Technical Center has impacted him. With him taking this route, he has seen what kind of potential he really has and is excited to learn more. After the end of his Junior year with a successful competition with small engines, he is excited to discuss education beyond high school.

Westmoreland County is a very small county with limited opportunities for High School students and other young aged community members. Due to its small size and limited jobs, Westmoreland is just like another passing by gas station stop on the map. My experiences in Westmoreland county have been very limited to what is in the community. The schools are good for making friends and they have good opportunities in education, but overall the schools are poor and small.
I attended Westmoreland County Schools all my life. I can't particular say anything bad about the school system. I do think that the education could be taught a little better as most of the teachers are young and don't have much experience.
