Westlake City School District Reviews
Westlake is such an amazing community! I have been able to challenge myself academically with the rigorous course options and the variety of class options. The teachers are simply the best, and I feel very prepared for college. I have also been given the opportunity through Westlake to be involved in clubs at the school as well as in the community. Our facilities are amazing, and we as students have a multitude of resources to use at any point. The parent base in the district is phenomenal and well and is always supporting the students in all we do. Overall, the school and community are anchored around the best interests of the students.
There are opportunities for our children that far exceeded our expectations. There is something for everyone. We have a child that is receiving gifted services and another that has an IEP and they have very different needs. The faculty and staff has worked so well with each of them to meet those needs, and continue to do so. We have been happy across the board with academics, athletics, performing arts, and other activities. Great school system and a great supportive community!
My experience at Westlake was very good. Westlake offers a lot of opportunities for service hours. Most of the teachers there are very qualified and really love their job and you can definitely tell. Obviously, there are bad teachers, but I think the good outweigh the bad. The students there are just your average students. Again, there's good and bad, but as long as you find good people, you’ll be fine. I didn't find my friend group until sophomore year, and life has changed for the better because of them. Guidance office can do better. I've had to walk myself through everything, and I’ve just had a bad experience with them (could just be me, but I don’t think so). Again, not all are unhelpful. As far as sports goes, the school pours ways too much money into football with no good results but everyone else has to use old equipment. Girls XC team won our championship and we've (track also is falling apart), while the football team got new uniforms twice, in my time there.
